Rice is a staple dish in many countries. After all, it’s very easy to prepare — all you need is a rice cooker most of the time. This is especially true in smaller households that can’t fit a lot of fancy appliances.
However, another reason why rice is popular is that it’s an ingredient that can be cooked in different ways. The Asian Congee, for example, is a type of rice porridge. Rice can also be turned into risotto or even pudding, depending on where and how it is prepared.
But one of the easiest and most versatile rice dishes to prepare is fried rice. As a dish that can be created with anything with barely any preparation, fried rice has given birth to a ton of recipes all over the world.
Below are some of the best ones.
Egg Fried Rice

For this, you’ll need:

American Fried Rice

Since fried rice is so adaptable, it is no surprise that there is an “American” version of it. Of course, this dish did not really originate from the US. It’s a variation of fried rice created by the Thai, usually featuring common American breakfast ingredients such as hotdogs and eggs.
For this recipe, you will need:
– 1 cup of cooked rice
– ¼ cup of chopped onion
– ½ teaspoon of oil (for the rice)
– 1 teaspoon of butter, ½ tablespoon of soy sauce
– ½ tablespoon of raisins (soaked in hot water for 2 minutes and drained)
– 2 tablespoons of oil (for the egg and hotdogs)
– 2 ½ tablespoons of ketchup
First, fry the egg in oil on high heat so that the edges brown and get crunchy. Set it aside after. Next, cut the hotdogs with an X pattern and fry them until crispy. Set them aside with the fried egg. In a pan, fry the onions on medium-high until they’re translucent, then add the butter.
Once melted, add the rice. Stir continuously for 2 minutes. Lastly, add the ketchup, soy sauce, and raisins (optional). Stir them all together for another 2 minutes. Serve with fried egg and hotdogs.

– 4 eggs
– 12 ounces of Portuguese sausage (or smoked sausage)
– 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
– 2 ½ tablespoons of oyster sauce
– 3 tablespoons of shoyu soy sauce
– 3 tablespoons of chopped green onions
